2019 was a great year for Barry Anthony Finan. He had his work acquired by the Whitworth Contemporary Fine Art Collection and created his most ambitious work to date in the headline exhibition AWARD at British Ceramics Biennial Festival 2019, both firsts for a learning disabled artist.
At the BCB he created a site-specific ceramic installation, featuring approximately 600 unfired bricks which formed a 5ft by 2ft malleable wall, a giant platform where the artist was able to broadcast personal messages and ambitions through live inscriptions, or ‘WRRIGHHTINNGSERRSS’. This artwork evolved throughout the festival and afterwards the bricks were fired. The auction lot will feature three of these bricks.
Medium: Etched clay bricks.
Dimensions: 225mm x 112.5 x 75mm x 3.
